September is childhood obesity month and it is important to introduce healthy foods to our kids, encouraging a more healthy lifestyle early on. The Jones Valley Teaching Farm does exactly this through their Good School Foods program.
In 2012, building on the framework of the urban farm, Jones Valley Teaching Farm brought together a team of educators, designers and farmers to create Good School Food — a school-based food and nutrition education program for Birmingham City Schools. Good School Food is a program that connects standards-based education to real-world food issues, providing their partner schools with innovative, hands-on programs that improve student learning and increase access to healthy food.
