Ishkooda Slope Mines No. 13 & No. 14. Mines are nothing without miners. Red Mountain was an incubator and a classroom for African American Miners as they left slavery and entered the Industrial Revolution. During this 2.3 mile, easy-moderate hike we will share the important story of the first Civil Rights actions in Birmingham when miners stuck together to bargain for equal rights on the Mountain. This free guided hike will start at 2pm on Sunday, November 17.
